What do the codes on the bottles mean?
The date code currently being used by Anchor Brewing Company (post-October 1991) replaces the clock-face which used to show the bottling month as one of 12 small notches around the main label. A three character code is now included on the new back label of the bottle. The code works like this:

The first character is always numeric and represents the last digit of the year. The second character is always alpha and represents the month by using the first letter in a month which has not been previously used. Such as:

January: J July: L
February: F August: G
March: M September: S
April: A October: 0
May: Y November: N
June: U December: D

The third character in the code is either alpha or numeric and tells the day of the month. The first 26 days are represented by the alphabet with the remaining days listed as:

27th through 29th = 7 through 9
30th = 3
31st = 1

"0" (zero) isn't used for the 30th because the labeler makes its "Os" (letter 0) the same way it makes its "0s" (zeros).

An example would be: January 20, 2002 = 2JT

Will you donate/sponsor my event/club/group?
Some time ago, we realized that we would need to draw guidelines regarding donation requests and sponsorships. We receive many requests from worthwhile groups and can only comfortably sponsor events in which employees here at the brewery have personal involvement. We are still a fairly small company and are therefore not able to do any more than this. We hope you will understand the limits of a company the size of Anchor.

Do you have any employment opportunities available?
We do not anticipate any openings at this brewery in the near future. You may check the Employment section of this site from time to time as any opportunities will be posted there.

Do you have any internship opportunities available?
Unfortunately, No. We have only 50 employees and do not have the facilities to accommodate an intern.

I have a marketing/advertising idea for Anchor Brewing. Do you work with ad agencies?
We have always relied on word-of-mouth to sell our beers, and we do not foresee a time when we will promote our brands otherwise.

Anchor Brewing has continued to grow slowly and steadily year to year — which has always been our goal. We do not wish to expand our production too quickly, as we take pride in being a small brewery and in brewing quality beers. In order for us to maintain our integrity, we elect to keep our production within certain limits.

Can I distribute your products?
At this time, we have no immediate plans to expand our distribution during the upcoming year.
Our beers are currently available in all fifty of the United States, the District of Columbia, and a number of foreign countries. Our aim is to slowly expand our marketing area, usually a few markets each year. We are sure you can understand that a small brewery of specialty products is limited in the distribution that it can achieve.

In addition, we require all of our distributors, national and international, to refrigerate our products during transport from the brewery to the warehouse. It is a very important consideration; many distributors find this to be either impossible or too expensive for them. As a result, this requirement has limited our choice of distributors.
