Anchor and San Franpsycho hosted their first-ever collaborative event in San Francisco in July 2015. It featured live-screen printing, an on-stage interview with San Franpsycho, live music from local bands, and—of course—fresh Anchor Steam on tap!
As our partnership grew, Anchor and San Franpsycho continued to host a wide variety of events together at bars and venues throughout San Francisco. San Franpsycho also released limited co-branded apparel created by local artists.
Anchor and San Franpsycho began hosting events at San Franpsycho’s stores focused on supporting local charities, artists, and musicians.
Anchor and San Franpsycho launched a Film & Beer Pairing event series at Balboa Theatre. At each event, attendees enjoy beers inspired by the film being shown that Anchor brewers make exclusively for the event. So far we’ve shown Dazed & Confused, Almost Famous, Back to the Future, Goonies, and more!
The Anchor and San Franpsycho crew had tossed around the idea of making a collaboration beer for a couple years. When the timing was finally right, Anchor brewers created three prototype collaboration beers we poured with San Franpsycho at the annual Ocean Beach Music & Art Festival in October of 2016. Attendees tasted the beers and voted on their favorite.
Anchor installed a pilot brewhouse and bar, Anchor Public Taps, across the street from our iconic brewery in Potrero Hill, which opened in October 2017. The pilot brewhouse allows our brewers the ability to experiment with brewing processes, ingredients, and styles in a new and innovative way.
Using our pilot brewhouse, Anchor brewers worked with San Franpsycho to create three new prototype collaboration beers in December 2017.
Locals were invited to Anchor Public Taps to taste the three prototype collaboration beers and vote on their favorite. A juicy IPA made with stone fruit was the clear winner.

San Franpsycho® IPA was released in April 2018. This bold new IPA celebrates the city and culture of San Francisco but is available nationwide—bringing the unique ethos of the City by the Bay to beer lovers from coast to coast.
